Beginning Counseling Sessions

The first consultation

The first consultation is a time to meet and define the problem. We analyze together if the assumption of responsibility is possible, what type of follow-up it would be desirable to put in place. Psychological follow-up can either consist of accompaniment in the form of psychological support, or register in the form of psychotherapy or even take the form of a neuropsychological assessment.

Psychological support

Psychological services can help address the difficulties of the personal sphere (sentimental and family matters) or the relational and professional sphere, especially when the pain is too great. It could be a specific problem, an old conflict, a questioning, places or sites where one had a bad casual encounter. The goal of the psychologist is to bring an outside perspective on the situation going through. Through his active, neutral and benevolent listening, he helps to understand and overcome the current difficulty, even to to initiate psychotherapy.

Psychotherapy

The psychotherapy path is committed to when the subject is seeking a change that is concrete and sustainable, in the way of thinking, acting and being. It is also recommended to treat a psychological disorder. The three main approaches used are Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (CBT) and Existential Therapy (logotherapy) and Hypnotherapy.

Neuropsychological assessment

Following a cerebral dysfunction (stroke, head trauma, suspicion or follow-up of dementia such as Alzheimer's or other, disease having a consequence on the brain), a neuropsychological assessment is very often requested from you. It consists of interviews before the assessment, the assessment itself (the duration of which is variable) and a report with explanations and recommendations. The neuropsychologist is the one who is qualified to do this type of assessment.
